What is a recruitment scribe and why use one?
In Australia, recruitment for federal and state public services is based on merit and conducted with procedural fairness. Government agencies, at both the federal and state level, often engage scribes to write up selection reports. These reports outline the selection panel’s decisions and their justifications.
The reports usually summarise candidates’ performance in the assessment phase, describing each candidate’s strengths and weaknesses, and provide a comparative analysis across the field of applicants. A scribe is responsible for accurately capturing the selection panel’s discussions and deliberations and writing up the final selection report.
For today’s busy public servants, using a professional scribe for a recruitment process saves them hours or even weeks of time preparing the report themselves. That means they can get on with focussing on the important business of serving the public.
Services
When I provide a quote for scribing services, it will usually include a breakdown for:
- minute-taking at the interviews
- attending any pre-briefing and moderation meetings the panel arranges
- scheduling and conducting referee checks
- writing up the selection panel report
- entering, where required, the report into the eRecruit system or any similar digital recruitment platforms.
Additionally, having been a panel member myself as a public servant, I can also provide a quote if you are looking for an additional panel member.
Scribing services Canberra and nationwide
I service the Canberra region mostly because that’s where most government agency headquarters are, but our locations needn’t be a barrier. If you’re outside Canberra, get in touch to discuss my online scribing services. I am happy to attend interviews via your agency’s videoconferencing platform, including Microsoft Teams, Webex by Cisco and Zoom.
